U.S. Historical Facts
~ Our Historical Timeline ~
I watched on the news several weeks ago with complete shock about a Pueblo County
(Colorado) High School teacher who had given his ninth grade history class the
assignment to create a terrorist plot against the United States. Like many Americans,
my question was, "How does this teach children anything of true historical value?"
As I pondered this story, I was reminded of a law established in 1647 by the
Massachusetts Bay Colony called "The Ole Deluder Satan Act."
This act actually established the "public school" system in America. The purpose of this
law was to require every town in the Massachusetts colony to teach children to read.
Why then was it called "The Ole Deluder Satan Act?" The opening line of the act
acknowledged that it is the chief end of "the ole deluder, Satan" to keep men from the
truth of the Scriptures. If children can read, than they can read the Bible for themselves and thus avoid being
"deluded" (deceived) by Satan. My how our public schools and the country as a whole
have today been "deceived" by "the ole deluder." Could the reason be because the
ability to read is not the problem, but what we have rejected to read--the Holy Scriptures?
I think the answer is obvious!
Fellow Christians, let us love, honor, obey and read the Bible. But also let us pray and
labor to see the Scriptures restored to prominence in our schools, government, and
public arenas. Then our beloved nation can once again enjoy the favor of Almighty God.

As I think back about the blessings of God on this nation and how we have removed
ourselves from that blessing today, I am reminded of what brought God’sBlessing on us in the first place. It was, and still is, our dependence upon Him. At
the Constitutional Convention in 1787, Benjamin Franklin, the oldest representative
to attend, made the following statement:"I have lived… a long time, and the longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of
this truth- that God governs in the affairs of man. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the
ground without His notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without His aid ?We have been assured… in the sacred writings, that "except the Lord build the house
they labor in vain that build it." I firmly believe this; and also believe that without His
concurring aid we shall succeed in this political building no better than the builders of
Babel."Mr. Franklin, like most of our founding fathers, realized the truth that this nation must
have God’s help and blessing to succeed. Yet, we have rejected this truth in America
today because we have rejected God. As a result, our nation will end just like Babel,
in confusion and destruction. However this destruction can be avoided if AmericaWill return to the "God of our Fathers" – Jesus Christ, and implore Him to "build our
House" again.
